THE ONE
The duo, composed of producer/drummer Mr Joe Ryan and producer/vocalist Mr Emeson, take influence from flyte time setters Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis’, 24th Century Kleeer and the early eighties era plus other impressarios such as Skinny Puppy, Gus Gus, Sir Larry Heard and Lord Robert Owens, creating a sound best described as electronic soul.
High Hopes is Mr Joe Ryan: a new age Michael Franks genetically spliced with a Nord whilst plugged into a Fostex. He also hits things hard in FAIR OHS and creates sexy tunes in THE ONE.
As a young lad growing up in the garden of England, Joe shared an equal love for punk/hardcore/metal as for the synth driven 80’s Soul that came from his parents stereo. High Hopes is his first solo excursion into this world of sex, synths and soul.
To someone who is new to this music, there are snippets of John Maus and Ariel Pink mixed in with the love of Jam & Lewis and SOS Band. Skewed synth pop love songs for lovers.
